Stalker is not a normal game.

Stalker is an event, complicated and problematic, intense and incomparable.

But Stalker is no longer unique. Because part 2 is just around the corner. And Stalker 2 won't be a normal game either.Or at least that would be a big surprise. Because this first-person shooter carries far too much with it.

No development like any other

has been in development for at least six years, with a previous iteration coming to an inglorious end in 2012. This means that the game took up at least as much time as its predecessor. Shadow of Chernobyl was announced in 2001 and appeared in 2007 - with the "world's first test" in GameStar issue 04/07.

But this time the game iscreated in the middle of a war zone: Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, GSC Game World has been operating in a state of emergency. Team members and their families fled the war and the studio moved its headquarters to Prague, Czech Republic.

Who believes thatsuch a dramatic experiencehas no influence on the final product, he is at least very optimistic. The many moving parts of game development, the brittle seams, and behind-the-scenes technical emergency solutions held together with metaphorical duct tape are highly error-prone even under ideal conditions.

It's hard to imagine what the release version of Stalker 2 will look like. Although...looking back at least gives us a clue. Because Stalker 1 was initially far from being error-free.Patches corrected the most serious errors over timeand new mods are still appearing today that restore those features that were dropped during development as "broken" or "unfeasible."

It's quite possible that the same thing will happen to Stalker 2.
