Skeleton Crew brings back memories of one of the cruelest prequel moments in episode 7

Appearances are deceptive: Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law) is not one of the good guys - even if he grins so friendly here. Image source_ Lucasfilm / Disney

Everyone - literally everyone - in Skeleton Crew warns about him: Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law) or should we say Captain Silvo, Crimson Jack or Dash Zentin? We've lost track... With every name that comes up it becomes clearer:Nothing is sacred to the pirate except his own life.

But by episode 7 of Skeleton Crew at the latest, we knowhow ruthless the supposed Jedi really is.

What scenes are they about? In the current episode of Skeleton Crew entitled "We Get in Some Trouble," Jod takes Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Neel (Robert Timothy Smith), KB (Kyriana Kratter) and Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) hostage.

He stands in front of the frightened children with his blue lightsaber raised and keeps them at bay with the "elegant weapon from a more civilized time." A short time later, the pirate also pulls out the laser sword in front of their parents.

Many fans are probably thinking:That seems somehow familiar.

The reference to episode 3

The scenario brings back memoriesawake. More specifically:An Order 66.There, numerous Jedi are systematically murdered by clone troopers. Anakin Skywalker, alias Darth Vader, personally takes care of the young people in the Jedi Temple with his lightsaber.

On the X platform (formerly Twitter), some fans post direct comparisons of the two scenes. Here's an example:

Coincidence?Almost certainly not.Star Wars is and always has been extremeself-referentialand lives from the nostalgia that many fans have for George Lucas' Star Wars.

In fact, Jude Law already teased before episode 7 that we would learn more about his character Jod. However, many fans guessed flashbacks from the pirate's past. Nobody expected this.

Some fans suspect from the episode 3 reference that Jod Na Nawoodcould be a surviving youth from episode 3.That would at least explain why he is Force-sensitive but does not follow the rules of the Jedi (and why he sometimes seems a bit clumsy when using the lightsaber).

The final episode of Skeleton Crew will be released on January 15, 2025. Then you can watch the entire eight episodes of Season 1 on Disney Plus in one go. In fact, the series has already revealed a big secret a week before the finale. You can find out more about this in the article linked above.

For everyone who is sad because the Star Wars series has already ended: rescue is at hand! The second season of Andor will also be released on Disney Plus on April 22, 2025.
