The Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen is missing only one function for the perfect gaming chair, but it has it all

Only a feature is missing, and the model would have been almost unrivaled. (Image: Maxe S., Gamestar)

The word "perfect" does not come across my lips so easily - and yet I call the Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen Edition as almost flawless.

With this gaming chair, almost everything is right: processing, lordosis support, cosiness, yes, even the magnetic pillow is back at the start.

And yet I lack a single function. It is also this one feature that I learned in my long -term test with the Herman Miller: the synchronous mechanism.

You can find out everything important about the chair and this (missing) feature now.

Transparency: Secretlab provided me with the Titan Evo Nanogen Edition including a professional footrest for the test free of charge. The manufacturer had no influence on the article content and did not get any access to the test. There was no obligation to report.

Titan Evo Nanogen: structure and workmanship

Anyone who has ever screwed a gaming chair knows how it works. There are no surprises from the Titan Evo Nanogen. Lean on the seat screw, mechanics on the underside flanges, put on the foot cross, done.

I would like more environmental awareness in the packaging.Everything was lined with foam and packed in plastic bags. Recaro showed that this is better,.

The processing quality was already enthusiastic about the Titan Evo (without nanogen). Every seam sits where it should. There is nothing over, screws are invisible and the eponymous synthetic leather is a flatterer.

Where is the difference to the Titan Evo?

Basically, the change affects two components.

  • The synthetic leather covering
  • The seat padding

The nanogen hybrid artificial leather consists of "ultra-density nanofibers". According to the manufacturer, it is softer, more durable and UV-resistant than the rest of the guard of the same material.

I can't say whether this is true after 4 weeks; The test period was too short for that. But what I can say: The cover is a bit of soft and supple than that of the Titan Evo. First of all, that's a plus.

The foam baptized by Secret Lab Nanofoam was used for the padding - and it is initially surprisingly hard. I don't mean that, because this benefits me, especially in office use. I just sat straight. When leaning back, the material then gives a little more.

I see a possible problem with people with low body weight.I am built more heavily and the rather stable foam has adapted to my shape. The chair could appear too hard. The normal Titan Evo would be the better choice.

If you have the opportunity, she sits sample. That pays off.

Titan Evo Nanogen: seat and convenience

Here are the good news:The Nanogen Edition comes with all the advantages that the normal Titan Evo also has. I summarize it briefly below;.

  • Wide seat and back area: Although this time I didn't test the XL variant, both were nice and wide. This ensures that you can also flush well..
  • Magnetic pillow:For me, this is simply the best type of pillow for gaming chairs because they are so flexible. The memory foam also makes it very cozy.
  • Individual lordosis support:Not only can the intensity be determined here, but also the shape. So you can adapt the support to your own form of the backbone, perfect.
  • Soft armrests:The magnetically fastened armrests are padded and can be adjusted in all directions.
  • The backrest tiltable up to 165 degrees:Theoretically, if you want that, you could sleep on your back with the wipping function in your chair.

With the Titan Evo you can sit back really far. You set the lordosis hardness and shape via the rotary knob. (Pictures: Maxe S., Gamestar)

On top of that, the design is also simple and cool. It radiates gaming-chair flair (definitely a word for gallows men), but is also easy to office.

The big one

So far I am quite satisfied with the Titan Evo Nanogen; I didn't have much to complain about. However, there is a large disadvantage that I noticed right when I used it for the first time: a synchronous mechanism is missing.

That does the synchronous mechanism

With the synchronous mechanism, the backrest does not just tip back and the seat goes with it, but both parts move differently. This relieves the intervertebral discs, ensures better blood circulation and protects the back.

I noticed that this feature is missing when testing the Titan Evo. Almost two years ago, however, I had not given it so much meaning. This completely turned with the one -year test of the Herman Miller.

The Titan Evo Nanogen calls 800 euros as a price. In this price range you get a synchronous mechanics when you value it. In my chair test with 5 participants, she was represented twice.

  • HIVAR SHAIRS, Price: 650 euros
  • Backforce One Plus, Price: 700 euros

In exchange with Secretlab After the Titan Evo test, the manufacturer let me know that they were deliberately decided against a synchronous mechanism.

But the long -term test with the Herman Miller made it clear to me how important the function can be, at least for me (and you blown into the same horn in the comments). Especially when you sit on the chair for a long time.

For me, the synchronous mechanics are without alternative, even if some manufacturers rely on the wipping function, such as Recaro, noble airs and Secretlab.

However, the real gamuchanger only comes.

Salvation bringer: foot support

In the last test of the Titan Evo in the XL variant, I found that the chair was too high for me. This gave me pain in my knees. Together with the nanogen, I tested a suitable footrest - and it really inspired me!

DieProfessional footrestMetal makes exactly what it should: support your feet. In addition, there is the function that you can tend to, up to 15 degrees to the rear and forward. Optionally, they can be determined in positions or freely locked. Optimal.

The footrest costs 200 euros, but is processed as well as the chair itself. (Images: Maxe S., Gamestar)

The fabric edition is also very cozy.It can simply be removed, because with slippers you make the fabric dirty relatively quickly.

The support is quite expensive at 200 euros, but a gamuchanger if your chair is too high or you just want to park your feet comfortably. That does a lot for sitting posture.

Of course, I did not find the egg of the Columbus, but deliberately dealt with a footrest, focused on the advantages.

It remains to be seen whether it must be the expensive model now.

Worth knowing about the test

So I tested

I had the Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen Edition in the test for 4 weeks and sat on it every day. The footrest was also used every day.

Price and availability

The Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen is available inin -house shopfor 800 euros.

The Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen is for you if ...

  • You want an elegant office or gaming chair.
  • You don't want to compromise.
  • You don't bother yourself on a missing synchronous mechanism.

Possible alternatives to the Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen:

  • : Basically, you get a very similar product with all mechanical advantages and disadvantages. Only the upholstery and covering are less high quality. The chair is available for around 550 euros.
  • : This model was my favorite in the large chair test. It is wonderfully straightforward, has a wide seat - and the synchronized mechanics I advertised. I only found the pillow so plump. The Hivar Skylar starts at 400 euros.

I rode a lot on the synchronous mechanism, but my statement remains: The Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen Edition is almost perfect.

If you don't bother yourself at the tilt mechanics and at the price, the chair should be on your screen. If you already have the normal Titan Evo, an upgrade is not worth it in my opinion.

Should Secretlab ever make a chair that relies on synchronous mechanics, I am definitely one of the first to place its most value on it.
