I have been pursuing the Mobile operating system from Samsung for more than ten years. My first Galaxy smartphone was thatwas still smiled at.
Hardly imaginable, after all, there are almost only devices that measure at least 6.1 inches.
I found the form factor class, but not the TouchWiz operating system at the time (what a name!). Today, eleven years later, the operating system One UI 7 feels properly and works in contrastLike a real upgrade.

Look and feel: New life for your Galaxy cell phone
Do not misunderstand: withFor smartphones. Since then, the operating system has been pursuing philosophy, for example, to be able to control a large part of the menus with only one hand, no matter how big and wide the device is in the palm.
With One UI 7, however, the manufacturer turned on a set screwthat I immediately noticed: the animations. You may frown and I am surprised how flowing transitions and small details ensure a touch of euphoria and an overall better "experience".
Apps, widgets and windows open and close smoothly, nothing looks hooky, what in the. Samsung has adopted the strengths of iOS.
But the animations are not the only thing that makes the user experience with One UI 7 so much better. In addition to the optical adaptation of the quick settings (alsoQuick Panel
I can design this in the latest operating system version according to my own wishes.
- I either push the button for WLAN and Bluetooth all the way down.
- In addition, Samsung gives me the choice of whether notifications and quick settings are separated or together (as in One UI 6).
- With the presented representation (I preferred) I wipe down to see all notifications. A swipe from the right, upper screen corner opens the quick settings.
It creates the nice feeling that one ui 7 keeps me open all options. As I decide, it serves my personal preferences. For example, I can determine whether the App Drawer (the menu with all apps) is displayed vertically or horizontally.

Samsung spills at Apple and vice versa. I think that's great, after all, we benefit from it at best. Samsung integrates live activities, sorry, live notifications.
Similar to the iPhone, one UI 7 comes a form of live activities.
Active timers, music, Samsung Health, Maps or Sports from Google and more glue on the top left of the corner. On the other hand, they are visible on the lock screen with a prominent button.
If you tap the button at the top left button, a pop-up opens for the app. All of this saves time and makes operation easier and improves the overview enormously. Samsung is welcome to include other third-party apps for this feature.
The camera app was drilled with One UI 7
A highlight of One UI 7 is the new camera app, which can even be operated with one hand on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. For this, most of the settings from the upper edge of the screen have hiked down.
- The camera options are now hiding behind the button with the four points. I can set the resolution, the timer, the aspect ratio, the new filters and more.
- At the bottom there are also the cameramodi such as video, slow motion, pro video and much more. As in One UI 6, the bar can be adjusted as desired.
- The yellow marking at the top right is also helpful, depending on the respective camera mode. The system prominently indicates whether the HDR, RAW or Log is being recorded. The log profile already catches the eye from the picture.
Settings are made easy
I particularly noticed an innovation in advance. In the settings you can search for options with descriptions such as "My display is too dark". Zack: One Ui spits out the corresponding switch to regulate the display brightness.
Now I can definitely say: Samsung solves one of the most annoying smartphone problems for me. Why is that?
The variety of functions and possibilities of smartphones is now so large that even smartphone experts no longer know where you can find an important option.
The manufacturers don't make it easy for you. Apple hides the option for automatic brightness adjustment under the operating aids instead of in the logical menu »Display & Brightness«.
The search function does not help without the keyword, as I do in my.
One Ui 7: Not everything was cooked
Of course, Samsung did not miss the opportunity to donate further functions as part of Galaxy AI and to align the operating system accordingly. Colleague Marinus is.
However, the AI-based features are not what makes one Ui at least for me. Especially since one of the most exciting functions for me turns out to be a disappointment afterwards: Now letter.
What exactly is behind this function? The idea: a morning or evening overview of personalized subject areas such as news, weather, music suggestions, traffic reports and more.
At the moment, however, I only get weather and Spotify playlist suggestions that rarely hit my taste. Despite activation, messages are not suggested to me.
Perhaps I am not the target group, and for people who rely on traffic reports and weather, the tool can be a welcome support. However, a smartphone of the Galaxy S25 series will probably be needed until further notice.
Nevertheless, there is hope: The South Korean manufacturer is known for publishing some innovations sooner or later on older devices.
Overall, one Ui 7 is one of the best updates in the history of Samsung for me. In itself, it has a fine -tuning.
Apps have received sensible optimizations, there are Quality of Life improvements and the search for options is greatly simplified.
Now Samsung only has to complete the last version for older devices.
