The 90s and early 2000s were the heyday of a genre that is now the same as that in young people as thatKuhmaulschuhin the village disco.
Of course we speak of the classic real-time strategy à la Dune 2, Command & Conquer, Warcraft (then still without World), Starcraft and so on. Heiko and Micha grew up with the genre and tell on the occasion of the publication of Tempest Rising why they still love it today.
The fact that the genre once ruled children's hearts and PC hard drives did not come about. No other type of game-neither the leisurely round strategy nor the (top-down) shooters at that time brought the bombast of large battles as well as real-time strategy games.
And then you could even command these battles -we only say Minas Tirith in Battle for Middle -earth!
So we follow a nostalgic journey through 15 wonderful years of real-time strategy history-including the discussion on how the real-time strategy beyond Tempest Rising could live out!
