Horse equipment in Oblivion: Bethesda makes 19 year old mistakes well again - and repeats it again directly

You can spend real money once again to pimp your horse in Oblivion.

What would the world of video games look like todayif there had never been a horse equipment for Oblivion? These once controversial items are one of the first microtransactions ever, which came into play for narrow two dollars. Would we have things like Season Passes, loot boxes or cosmetic bundle for over 20 euros today?

Probably already, it was just a matter of time. But Bethesda were at the front and promptly started a huge shitstorm with the horse equipment..

With the remaster of the role -playing gamemakes Bethesda well again this legendary misstep, because the two horse equipment is in the game from the start. However, the publisher does not completely do without earning a little more money with such objects - because a second set of horse equipment is now also giving.

Lots of horse equipment

All additional content ever existed for Oblivion, are also included in the standard edition of the remaster. In addition to the two large extensions of Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine, this also includes the infamed horse equipment.

The first two of them werea steel and elf armorFor your horse that existed at the stables of the imperial city. The first set is free in the game back then, you only have to ask the stable owner about it and then get the armor for free:

The stable is right in front of the main entrance to the imperial city.

But if that's not enough for youthere is again a paid horse equipment. Or just two as before. However, not like at that time as a nasty microtransaction, but as an upgrade to the Deluxe Edition.

That is in the Deluxe Edition

For 55 eurosIf you get the standard edition of Oblivion Remastered on Steam or for the consoles, but of course there is a thicker package. In addition to two armor sets and six weapons, the Deluxe Edition also introduces two new horse equipment. One in the style of God Akatosh and one in the style of the Daedra prince Mehrunes Dagon.

The Deluxe Edition costs 65 euros instead of 55 euros, you can also buy the content as an upgrade for the normal version later and also pay 10 euros on it.

Whether you really want to do this is entirely up to you. Bethesda also promises small quests for the whole raffle, but it is better not to hope too much. In any case, in a role -playing game like Oblivion, it is becoming increasingly satisfying to earn equipment by playing.

An outcry like 19 years ago is not to be expected in this case. The horse equipment is now much more iconic that the renewed implementation can also be viewed as friendly wink. But the millions of sales of the first horse equipment have certainly also contributed to this.
