Why are series discontinued? A frequent reason: too low spectator numbers. In a new report, Netflix now revealscorresponding figures from the last six months from 2024.

Among them are some projects that the streaming service has already pulled the plug in the past few months.

Four series suffered the same fate

In Netflix's youngestWhat-We-Watched-Reportthe streaming service publishes the number of spectators of the second half of 2024 (July to December). It lists all series and films that have been published during this period. So also the projects that Netflix has already stamped again.

The following four deposed series appear in the report:

  • Kaos: 20.3 million views (discontinued according to season 1)
  • The wild new ones!: 5.6 million views (deducted according to season 3)
  • Unstable: 3.1 million views (deducted according to season 2)
  • Girls5eva: 300,000 views (deducted according to season 3)

While that '90s Show and Girls5eva were dropped after three and unstable after two seasons, Kaos stands out significantly in this series with only one season.

Kaos is also the mostly exposed series from this half of the year and has already been stopped again a month and a half after the release of season 1 (August 29, 2024).

Incidentally, a similar fate suffered obliterated. The series celebrated its publication at the end of November 2023 and was sawn off by Netflix after four months. The show reached 27 million viewers by the end of the year and was even among the top 10 most popular English -language series for six weeks.

What is Kaos about?

The series deals with the problems of the gods of the Olympus. Accordingly, Godfather Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) is afraid of getting older, Poseidon (Cliff Curtis) celebrates wild parties and lives out his narcissistic features, while the otherwise dangerous Hades (David Thewlis) threatens to fail as a ruler.

The series was well received by the audience, because onRotten Tomatoesthe audience score is 83 percent. In theFilm database IMDBThe series comes to 7.4 stars at over 41,000 reviews.

At that time, Netflix did not give reasons for the deduction. Nevertheless, it is likely that the show could not attract enough spectators compared to its production effort.

Dead Boy Detectives was also dropped after only one season at the end of August 2024. Nevertheless, there is good news for fans of the series, because the comeback of a main character in season 2 was recently confirmed by Sandman.
