This is how the Open World works
After the unveiling of Mario Kart World, not only we were concerned with whether Nintendo also filled the new Open World with meaningful content, or just puts us on an empty world in which we run from races.
Now we can give the all -clear:There are missions. You start by driving through the P-Switches known from Mario games. What happens then is a surprise. Sometimes we have to collect blue coins under time pressure, sometimes drive through checkpoints without being hit by obstacles.

Of course, it remains to be seen how big the diversity is really in the end. A first breathe for everyone who expected a soulless open world is permitted.
You can also investigate other activities in the Open World:
- Hidden coins: Only those who explore all the corners of the game world will find the hidden Goldtaler. But what are they good for? Nintendo does not reveal that yet, we speculate and suspect: exclusive outfits for certain characters.
- Hidden fields: Also exciting are floor surfaces in the open world, which are visually based on the former item fields in the Super Mario Kart Snes-Erstling. Similar to the P-Switches, a certain entertaining challenge awaits you that you have to complete.
- Photo mode: The possibility was already known to take your own pictures with a variety of ways to your heart's content.
Modes, routes and team duels
The Nintendo Direct has promoted many other exciting details, including:
- Battle-Mode:The popular PvP mode is again at the start. You can choose from the classic in which you shoot the balloons, or the variant of each other, or the variant
Coin Runners
. - Old routes in a new guise:Apart from many new racing courses, old acquaintances also return, including fan favorites such as Toad's factory, Peach Beach and Warios Galeonwrack.

- Team-Multiplayer:Instead of driving against each other in a maximum of two teams as in previous parts, up to four groups can now be created. That should continue to maximize the chaos on the route.
- Rewind option: In Mario Kart World you can, like in Forza or the Codemaster racing game, you can turn the time back to reverse the driving errors committed. But be careful, your opponents continue to run steadfastly. So you may lose a lot of positions.
- Rainbow boulevard: The latest edition of the route loved by Mario-Kart fans and at the same time you have to unlock this time. How? By completing all cups in 1st place.
On June 5, 2025, Mario fans are offered plenty of content directly at the start of the new console. It is quite possible that Nintendo still has not revealed all the features. There are still a few weeks until the release.
