LEGO Technic, on the other hand, is kindergarten: This crane with 20 motors and over 8,000 parts is the ultimate for LEGO fans!

LEGO and other clamping building blocks are definitely not just for children. Even in generations where the year of birth begins with 19, assembling such sets is a popular hobby.

Theabsolute non plus ultraIn my opinion it is not from LEGO or LEGO Technic, but from the alternative "Mould King". A gigantic crane with20 engines (!), over 8,500 parts and up to 1.6 meters in length.

And the best part? It's really cheap right now!

LEGO Technic? No! The best LEGO alternative scores multiple points!

Mold King is nowhere near as well known as LEGO, but for me it is currently my favorite when it comes to clamping building blocks. For three reasons:

  1. Price/performance ratio:While LEGO sometimes charges horrendous prices for even small sets, the price per brick for Mold King is around half that. Sometimes even lower. LEGO is already being criticized by its own fan base for its pricing, and I even find it cheeky at times.
  2. Compatible with LEGO - and good quality:The Mold King bricks are compatible with the original LEGO bricks. Yes, this is also legal because the original patents have expired. So you can expand the sets with LEGO - or vice versa.
  3. Much more complex and larger:Mold King sets simply beat anything on the market when it comes to size and complexity. The Liebherr LTM 11200 is the best example - and there are many others, including in the cheaper price range.

The best LEGO alternative for me: This is what you should know!

Contrary to the assumption that clamping building blocks are supposed to be "children's toys", things are hot on the market there.and employs a bunch of lawyers to somehow continue to secure the market throne - not always in a nice way.

Mold King, on the other hand, doesn't always do everything right. Some sets have been accused of plagiarism, while others have used the plans of so-called MOCs (My Own Creation - fan creations). Not always with permission.

The Star Destroyers also come without an official Star Wars license. So shouldn't you buy Mold King? I think: Yes,Mold King is still the best LEGO alternative for me- next to Cada and probably BlueBrixx. Because Mold King's sets are truly outstanding and unbeatable in terms of price-performance.

Mold King vs. LEGO Technic: better value for money and bricks are compatible!

Now back to the Liebherr crane: It is the top model among Mold King's Technic sets. There are sets with more parts, but none with more motors and functions.

Whole20 The engineYou have to (or are you allowed to?) install them here - including servo motors. In order for the crane to really work, twelve counterweightson board. All of this is distributed across nine axes.

Also worth mentioning: The crane is remote controlled. So you can extend the arm or the support pillars and thus use it as a whole1.6 meters total lengthfully operate. The complex cable pull actually manages to lift quite heavy objects.

Overall, the set is just a real blast for anyone who is really looking for a challenge and enjoys putting together (and trying out) such huge sets. For just under €450The crane is also really cheap - with LEGO you would certainly have to pay twice as much.
