A single laptop battery supplies a notebook with electricity.
On the other hand, if you collect hundreds of it and combine them with solar panels, you can create enough energy for an entire house including the washing machine.
At least that's what the Glubux community member on the Secondlifestorage.com website. There inForumhe shows his impressive project of the community (viaTechspot).
The project in detail:
- The forum thread was launched in November 2016. The quote in the heading of this article also dates from his first post, because at that time Glubux stated that he had already collected over 650 batteries.
- In addition to use, a solar panel with 1.4 kilowatts on the roof, an old forklift battery, a charge controller, a voltage absorber and an inverter were first used.
- Today, according to its own statements, Glubux uses over 1,000 batteries, which are housed in a specially built scalter at 50 meters away to the house. In addition, he now has large, new solar panels with a much higher overall capacity:
No problems after eight years of continuous operation:In hismost recent contributionGlubux says that his system has been running smoothly for eight years and that he has not had to exchange a single battery so far.
There have therefore also no problems with fire hazards or swollen cells.
There is a lot of work and know-how in it
In order to be able to implement the project, Glubux has sorted the batteries in cell packages with a capacity of 100 ampers. He relies on copper cables for a particularly efficient connection.
According to Techspot, problems such as unequal discharge rates in batteries with different cells of the cell initially occurred. But that could ultimately be solved by adjustments such as adding cells.
Incidentally, the fact that the sight of the cells in the photo at the beginning of this article does not remind of a typical laptop battery is due to the fact that these batteries usually integrate several of these cells into a single, closed housing.
Suitable for the topic:A notebook concept in which the laptop itself is a solar panel
Like the many other projects of this kind inForum from secondlifestorage.comShow, Glubux is by no means solely with his collection of notebook batteries.
In our eyes, his project is still impressive.
