With Chrome OS andGoogle operates two systems that overlap in various ways.
A report fromAndroid Authoritynow suggests that Google could bring the two systems together in the future. Google's goal should be to be able to better compete with Apple's iPad in the high-priced tablet segment.
So far, the two operating systems have been used for different purposes. Broadly speaking, Chrome OS devices served the more productive segment, while Android devices were more geared towards media consumption.
The merger is intended to produce devices that come close to Apple's iPad in all areas.
A first device, the, is said to be already in development and uses Android as the operating system. However, the release is not expected soon.
Google already set the course at the beginning of the year
Early 2024announced Google, bringing together the company's various hardware teams. The aim is to improve the quality of Google devices and to use synergies to accelerate development.
The new team also includes developers from Google Research who work on AI and photography.
In June, Google confirmed that Chrome OSmore like Android
should be done, but without going into details.
