In addition to the faction traders and smaller traders in the cities, there are...also Xenon, the antiquarian. He trades his goods in the Black Emporium - but you first have to unlock this via a quest. Our guide explains how this works:
Unlock the Black Emporium
To unlock the quest that leads you to the Black Emporium, you need two things:
- You have to complete the main taskBloodbathcomplete. You will receive this laterThe siege of Weisshaupt.
- You have to upgrade the Guardian's shop to level 6. To do this, collect Guardian knowledge in the form of souvenirs. Watchful eyes find them all over the world. To reach level six you need a total of 4,000 points.
Alternatively, you can buy the souvenirs from a dealer you trust. We recommend the faction dealers. These sell souvenirs for gold. You may need to upgrade the faction merchant before you can purchase all the souvenirs. Depending on the level, you will need gold, some materials and enough reputation points from the selected faction.
After both criteria have been met, the Watcher will speak to you in the lighthouse and tell you about an invitation to the secret Black Emporium. This starts the quest.
Where is the Black Emporium?
Travel to Dock City to the fast travel pointMain market. This is near the eastern edge of the map. From there you walk straight ahead through the alley and pass through a large archway. From there, continue slightly to the right, past a barricade with spikes. Then look to the right again and - et voilà - you are standing in front of the entrance to the Black Emporium.
Why is it worth visiting the Black Emporium?
If you track down the merchant in the Black Emporium, you will get the achievementA highly valued business. You can also find one of the seven candle hops right by the stairs in front of the shop. You need the candle hops to unlock one of the unique items in the dock town. You can find out more about this in our guide to the unique items:
You can buy all sorts of goods from the merchant himself, mainly for Ethereal Remnants. Here you can, for example, buy even more souvenirs to upgrade your Guardian workbench.
Above we have also linked guides that tell you all the locations of the Evanuris and Fen'Harel altars. These in turn bring you great advantages on your journey through Thedas.
