In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Nvidia promises 2.5 times the performance with DLSS 3

Nvidia shows the performance gains that are supposed to be possible with DLSS 3 in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Sleep twice more and Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be available in stores. Thefrom Bioware a successful return after a ten-year absence; In our test, The Veilguard also shows itself to be of a very high level, particularly in terms of narrative:

GPU manufacturer Nvidia is also taking advantage of the game's release to point out the potential of DLSS 3, which will benefit the PC version of The Veilguard.

In a new blog post, Nvidia presents its own benchmarks that were created with different RTX 40 graphics cards, an Intel Core i9-14900K and 64 GB of RAM.

The maximum possible graphics and ray tracing settings were selected as the graphics preset; With the DLSS preset, either performance or quality mode was used.

Note:Now these are logically Nvidia's own benchmarks, which of course have an interest in making DLSS 3 (and subsequently the RTX 40 series) look as good as possible.

  • In principle, this information should be viewed with caution, but we have already found several times in our tests on DLSS that AI upscaling inbrings.
  • Since The Veilguard also supports AMD FSR 2.2 and Intel
  • Using upscalers is not mandatory with The Veilguard; Bioware also promises native resolutionsreasonable values.

Open itIncidentally, the developers put it in place almost a week ago. Preparations for the big release are also in full swing here - including our packed special issue, which you can pre-order here:

Basically, Nvidia recommends an RTX 4070 Ti Super to play The Veilguard in 4K resolution in order to achieve a native 40 FPS. The important 60 FPS limit is only cracked natively by the RTX 4090.

After all, DLSS 3 in performance mode should achieve an almost three-digit FPS number in all cases starting with the RTX 4070 Ti Super. With the RTX 4080 Super, almost 120 FPS is probably possible. On average, activating DLSS 3 is said to be able to deliver a 2.5x frame rate in The Veilguard.

  • The selection is a little friendlier in the 1440p resolution, where Nvidia still lists an RTX 4060 Ti with a native 40 frames per second. However, the performance gain of a factor of 2 is not quite as high as with 4K resolution.
  • The same factor is also evident in Full HD resolution, where owners of the RTX 4060 can overcome the 60 FPS hurdle even at full graphics settings.

You will find out to what extent the Nvidia benchmarks for The Veilguard are actually correct on October 31st. You will of course also find our tuning guide for the game soon on GameStar.

Do you use upscalers like DLSS, FSR or XeSS in your games or are you happy with the native resolution? Will you make an exception for higher FPS for The Veilguard?
