When it comes to the question of the best Civilization, there's a tight race for first place

You voted diligently on your favorite Civilization, that's how the poll turned out.

We're Nasty: The winner of the titleBest Civilization in the eyes of the GameStar communitycan already be seen in the picture above. Well, one of the available leaders at least. If you know which part this version of Mahatma Ghandi comes from, you are already one step ahead of others.

But don't worry, we'll of course solve the question quickly for everyone. We then devote ourselves to the detailed analysis. In your opinion, the best Civilization to date is...

Civ 5 is (still) at the top

Although yourselfOver the course of its long life span of nine years, it has become a real long-running favorite and with over11 million copies soldhas become the most successful part to date, many of you have hearts beating for the fifth part.is the narrow winner in GameStar's own duel.

It was a neck-and-neck race until the end. Part 5 versus Part 6, Goliath versus...another Goliath, damn, the comparison backfired. With 34 percent (2,057 votes), Civ 5 narrowly beats Civ 6 with 29 percent (1,768 votes).

Nothing follows for a long time before Civ 4 continues in third place (15 percent, 889 votes). This is followed by Civ 2 (10 percent, 618 votes), Civ 3 (8 percent, 493 votes) and in last place the series debut (5 percent, 301 votes).

What you notice from the votes:This survey was of great interest to you.Thank you for your active participation! So we'll definitely do the survey again as soon as Civilization 7 is released soon and you've been able to play for a while.

Plus-Userwould have clearly voted for Part 5 for a long time, but then Civ 6 trumped it thanks to its great add-on:

I didn't think Part 5 could be topped, but with a certain openness to change, Part 6 actually surpassed that for me (at least after Rise and Fall). I'm excited to see what Civ7 will bring, as it seems like a lot of things are being changed again.

has even accomplished the feat of making his choice based on objective standards, even though his heart says something completely different. Kind of romantic, right?!

Civ 5 with all the add-ons is, in my opinion, unbeatable within the series, but my heart lies in Civ 2...

However, none of the Civilizations has as much interest as another game by Sid Meier:

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri from 1999 will probably always remain at the top for me. Because of the complex diplomatic system for the time, the unit creator, but above all the tech tree and the story around it with credible, well thought-out and immersive additional information, some of which drifts into philosophical questions and makes you think, plus the associated wonders of the world.

In just a few weeks, our survey results will be put to the first major test. After many years of waiting, Civilization 7 will be released on February 11, 2025. The new part even dares to make major changes to the tried and tested gameplay. The big goal: to make veterans and newcomers equally happy. You can of course find out whether this works in our test.
