Routes and characters
Among other things, Nintendo has confirmed a number of route names in the latest part: Mario Bros-Pliste, crown metropolis, saltwater serpentines, Aurora view, cinema Buu Huu, Toads Fabrik, Peach Beach and Warios Galeonwrack.
Classic routes should also return, albeit in a revised form. Races are possible both during the day and at night.
As for characters, there are of course known figures such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser or Yoshi. In addition to Gumba, Spike and the cow, various new characters are also added.
The characters and vehicles each have different values and it is important to find good combinations. By collecting and eating Snacks in the game world, the characters accept different outfits based on the respective meal, causing them to permanently unlock them.
Racing styles and items
In Mario Kart World there are two primary racing styles with the Grand Prix and the Ko Tour, both support up to 24 drivers.
In the meantime, you should also pay attention to new obstacles, for example, some vehicles shoot the spherical Willis or hammer brothers throw you from the edge of the route.
In the Grand Prix there are, among other things, the Mushroom, Flower and Star Cup, but also many others. They are distributed across the entire route and each cup includes four routes. If you master all Grand Prix Cups, you can unlock the rainbow route.
On the Ko Tour there is the gold rally, the ice rally and more. Here you pass checkpoints in the course of the route, in which you have to achieve a certain position so as not to fly out.
New additions await you equally at the items. The coin tank makes coins appear on the track while the ice flower freezes and browsing opponents. You can also throw your opponents with throwing hammers who are still on the track for a short time. The mega mushroom makes you much bigger, the spring lets you jump into the air (to avoid attacks or discover new routes) and Kamek transforms your opponents.
As usual, the lower your placement is that the more the items are.
Aid functions and multiplayer
On top of that, various auxiliary functions such as clever control and movement control return.
The new techniques is the power jump. Here you hold down the drift button and go straight ahead to trigger a jump. This allows you to drive along power lines or dodge attacks, a wall jump is also possible, which briefly drives a wall.
A new option is reset that your vehicle brings back to its previous position, for example if you have not done a trick. In the meantime, rivals continue to drive. This option is available in single player races and outdoor driving.
Time trial is also possible, here you compete against best times and can also adapt ghost data from other players.
The rules of the game can be adjusted in the versus races and this time up to four teams are possible.
The battle mode is also part of the game, here you can play the well -known balloon battle. The coin hunter mode is new, which is about collecting most coins.
Apart from this, Mario Kart World invites you to explore the game world in Free Driving mode. There you will find P-switches that start missions in the world. If you complete them, you can improve your driving skills outside of races. You can still find hidden coins, panels and more. At the same time, you can take photos here at any time.
In multiplayer mode, a four-player split screen is possible on a console, with the local wireless play up to eight consoles can combine with two players each.
Up to 24 participants are also possible in races in races. You can also invite friends and meet them all over the game world. Then run together, battles or go on a tour.
Mario Kart World will be released on June 5, 2025 for Switch 2. You also get the game in the bundle with the console, but this is only limited until autumn 2025.
